SANCTUARY “SATURDAY”
Creating a Life of Intention
Through the Power of Play
In the Safe Haven Art Studio
This very different world can leave us feeling…
-Anxious
-Depleted
-Lonely
-Stressed
-Out of control
Or Reactive
Imagine Consciously Creating Feelings of…
-Calm
-Peace
-Connectedness
-Grace
-Level Mood
After a very busy and hectic life on output as a teacher, a Mom, and a daughter of an aging parent, my life just…Stopped! I went from 200 miles an hour to zero. Lyme Disease had entered my body and I struggled. Life was so different. I slept for hours longer than I was awake. The body pain, brain fog and spine pain made mobility a huge challenge.
I had been a teacher for nearly 30 years. My purpose had changed. I felt less important, less worthy of love and belonging because I couldn’t be productive. I felt anxious, alone and worried things would never be the same.
Then…when I allowed myself to play (in my case through art), my life began to soften. Lyme Disease was still there, but I walked the planet differently. I found my center, I reconnected to me, and I missed her greatly. She was buried under years and years of responsibility, and caregiving of others, and lack of self-care.
And slowly, I began to realize my truth- wanting to help women to find their center when life has shot them out of themselves. Play was my gateway to feeling so much more like myself.
And now here I am…hoping to help and guide you to feeling calm, connected to yourself and your purpose, peaceful, confident you can handle life with grounded grace.
It all starts with Intention…how do I really want to feel? How can I get there?…
And the best way to access Intention is through Play.
Intention leads to visualizing which leads to a different mindset which leads to consciously walking the planet differently, which leads to manifesting. We can’t change the outside world but we can change our internal landscape. And when we do that we become a rockstar at riding the waves of change and gain control over our lives.
Join me for a “Sanctuary Saturday-Creating a Life of Intention- Through the Power of Play” where we will :
-Connect to Intentions for ourselves through guided meditation
-Spend the afternoon in my art studio experimenting with different art supplies
-Feel the power of Play and how it can open a channel to Clarity
-Become inspired by the ritual of a daily art journal, and
-Hold space for each other in a circle of like-minded women.
Consciously create INTENTION toward your best life through the power of Play. It’s within your grasp. I’m living proof.
Laurie McMurdo is a Creative at heart and the founder of Safe Haven. Always fascinated by how a brain’s structure and physiology is affected by and reacts to life experiences, Laurie has a Master’s in Educational Psychology as well as a psychology and teaching degree. She applied her passions in her teaching career of nearly 30 years. Laurie found great joy in the challenge and meaning of creatively finding solutions to her students’ individual learning and developmental needs, honouring their unique essence and guiding them to discover their gifts.
Laurie’s classroom teaching career ended when Lyme Disease entered her body, and she became an artist born of healing when Lyme went to the brain. All of the art on the Safe Haven web page is Laurie’s. She became acutely aware that there is a deep connection between flow and the healing of the brain and body.
She created a modality called “Creative Mindfulness” to help connect to the unconscious and its truth through the magical gateway of calm in the relationship between mindfulness, creativity & guided questioning. She has worked with many women both personally and in groups to help guide them in accessing their truth to consciously design positive and joyous changes in their life.
Understanding the power of connection to like-minded women, Laurie was called to create a gathering place for women to connect, reflect, find clarity and recharge which she has named Safe Haven. With Laurie’s modality called Creative Mindfulness, art, workshops, consultations, collaborations, and programs, she creates “sanctuary during life’s storms.” Helping women to remember the magic of who they are, helping to guide them to where they want to be, holding space for the connection of like-minded souls, and allowing women to share their gifts with one another is Laurie’s mission at Safe Haven.
Laurie’s art and Creative Mindfulness courses can be found at- www.omcreativebymariel.com and on Instagram, Facebook & Etsy at omcreativebymariel.
