Creative Mindfulness & Empowerment for Littles (Age 7-11)
Winter Break 2023
Children need an understanding of self in order to grow a sense of trust in the world. When they know who they are and their strengths, they can connect more deeply to their sense of resilience & walk the planet more empowered.
School & life experiences can degrade children’s sense of confidence. Using children’s literature as the gateway, through meditation, guided questioning & exploration through art, they will be walked through a process of reconnecting with the part of themselves that allows for growth, resilience, self-confidence & trust. Mindfulness strategies to counteract anxiety and aid in learning will also be shared.

Laurie changed my daughter’s life with her teaching and support… at a time when she needed it most. She is a strong and confident young woman in part because of crossing paths with you. We’ll always be grateful.CP
Teachers like Laurie represent remarkably strong female role-models for young boys as they become men. As one of her past students, I can recall very formative teaching moments about empathy, respect through thoughtfulness, and always assuming the best in others. At very critical points in my life, as we stayed in touch long after she was my classroom teacher, Laurie was always there to guide me through difficult times, teaching me that I have the ability to choose the way I think. I submit that this is the real value of a real education and takes a great deal of emotional intelligence to teach. DL
When I look at the accomplished young man my son is today, I think of all the great mentors he has had. Laurie had an especially strong impact on him as she treated each child like her own. I recognize that this kind of emotional investment is rare, and a strong positive force for a child’s maturation. The attention and care she gave to him made him feel very special, and gave him the confidence to fly. L.C.
