REST AND RESET:
A Take Home Restorative Yoga
&
Yoga Nidra Practice Workshop
with Special Guest Julie Daignault
Sunday August 14th, 2022
In our fast paced world laden with uncertainty, taking the time to center, to ground, to care for ourselves often seems like a luxury. Imagine an afternoon of feeling held, of feeling cocooned, of breathing and filling your cup by nurturing your body & soul.
A restorative yoga practice is made up of long held resting poses, where the whole body is supported, allowing for a deep release of tension from the body. Through gentle mindful meditation cues, we will be welcomed to fully embrace the relaxation that restorative yoga provides.
Yoga nidra is a meditative form of very deep relaxation. All you need to do is lay comfortably in savasana (resting pose) on your mat, supported by cushions and blankets… and listen. Whatever you experience, whether you are awake or asleep, your deepest being will go through the journey! If you’ve been feeling a bit sleep deprived, you will be happy to know a 45 minute yoga nidra practice is equal to 3-4 hours of sleep!
Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra are ancient practices that can restore imbalances such as:
Stress
Anxiety
High blood pressure
Chronic fatigue
Digestive disorders
Insomnia (to name a few)
Join me in welcoming special guest Julie Daignault of Ola Yoga (www.olayoga.ca) to Safe Haven, for a workshop that will have you practice Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra that will allow you to delve into deep relaxation, rest, healing and positive personal change.
Participants will leave with sample restorative practices that are easy to practice at home, as well as online resources for yoga nidra practices for personal use.
Participants are asked to bring:
-A lawn chair
-A yoga Mat
-3-4 pillows (head, knees & other areas of support)
-A bolster if you have one
-A blanket or shawl as we can get cool during practice
-An eye pillow should you wish to have your eyes covered during the practice
-Your journal
**Note that this event is outside. We will host the event inside if need be, with a limited number of seats. For those who purchased past the maximum, there will be a waiting list. So let’s hope for good weather!

About Julie Daignault
I am a RYT 200, and working on achieving RYT 500, or
Registered Yoga Teacher with over 500 hours of training. I am
also certified in the teaching of:
– Yin Yoga
– Restorative Yoga
– Pre- and Post-Natal Yoga
I teach in French and English.
Adversity has propelled Julie on her yoga journey. She went from
casually taking classes as a university student to a
professional-level yoga teacher.
The first challenge Julie faced was in 2007, when she was diagnosed
with a repetitive strain injury in her wrists. Working hurt,
driving hurt, cooking hurt. The pain was constant. Soon, she was
diagnosed with depression. Julie took refuge in her yoga practice.
After a few months, seeking to deepen my practice and learn
more, Julie registered for a basic (RYT 200) yoga teacher training
course. In 2008, she completed the course, started teaching and
recovered from the injury and depression. However, Julie soon
stopped teaching, feeling that she wasn’t ready.
Julie had stopped her yoga practice, but she then injured her left knee kickboxing and then developed plantar
fasciitis in her right foot. Walking hurt, going up and down stairs hurt. At age 52, she had to scale back her
physical activities and reinvent what she did to keep fit. Not to mention that chronic pain was back! So, Julie
returned to yoga, but it had to be different from the flowing, fast-paced yoga she once practiced.
Julie discovered Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. She signed up for an additional 300 hours of yoga teacher
training in 2021 to reach the professional level of teaching and additional certifications in Yin and
Restorative Yoga…and she achieved them all!
Yin and Restorative yoga have helped Julie to manage her injuries and the pain associated with them, and
sparked her interest in teaching once again so that others may draw benefits from these gentler practices.
